Gimbap and Onigiri tells the story of Taiga, a once promising university athlete whose career was cut short by poor performance. Now three years into his part-time job at a small restaurant, he's unexpectedly finding fulfillment and even entrusted with creating new menu items.

Simultaneously, Rin, a South Korean graduate student studying animation, faces an urgent housing crisis after receiving an eviction notice from her dormitory. Struggling to navigate the challenges of finding accommodation in Japan, she arrives at the restaurant physically and mentally exhausted.
