In a world where debt and desperation reign, a mysterious invitation offers a glimmer of hope to those on the brink of financial ruin. Seong Gi-hun, a down-on-his-luck chauffeur, is one of hundreds of cash-strapped players who accept the strange offer, lured by the promise of a life-changing prize. As they arrive at the secret location, they are greeted by a group of masked guards and a seemingly innocent game master.

The players are thrust into a series of childhood games, but with a twisted and sinister twist. The stakes are deadly, and the consequences of losing are too terrifying to contemplate. As the games unfold, Seong Gi-hun forms alliances with fellow players, including Kang Sae-byeok, a young and resourceful North Korean defector, and Abdul Ali, a Pakistani migrant worker. Together, they must navigate the treacherous world of the Squid Game, where the lines between friendship and survival are constantly blurred.

As the game progresses, the players are forced to confront their darkest fears and the true nature of the Squid Game. With each round, the challenges become more brutal, and the body count rises. Seong Gi-hun and his fellow players must use all their wits and cunning to outmaneuver their opponents and stay alive.
